For the first time in over four years we are having a holiday in January.

WM invests the new Baby Master

dummyThe WM invested Worshipful Brother Chris Gorman with the District’s Baby Master Dummy at Queanbeyan Saint Andrew’s February Regular Meeting.

The small gold dummy is held by a Worshipful Master until the next WM in the district is installed from a Master Mason Brother. The dummy was passed, pure and unsullied, as our WM received it, at Q’beyan’s working evening on the 17th February.

Chris was Installed into the Chair of King Solomon at Queanbeyan St. Andrew on Saturday, 22nd November 2014 and so he is now qualifies as the latest “Baby Master”.

Lodge Ethos marks the Passing of an Ethos founding member to the Grand Lodge Above.

Brother Frank Gifford passed at 9:15AM on Monday, the 9th February, in Canberra. Frank was one of the brethren who came together and founded Lodge Ethos on the 29th February 1964. Our Brother was a long serving and highly respected AFP Officer having served in the United Nations peace keeping 9th Contingent to Cyprus 1972-1973.

The members of Lodge Ethos extend their deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

The funeral was held at 1:30PM on Friday, 20th February at the Norwood Crematorium. A Masonic Tribute was included as part of the service.

Multicultural Festival participation a Great Success

MultiCulturalFestivalBrethren from Lodge Ethos participated again in the National Multicultural Festival. This event was held in Canberra on the 13th, 14th and 15th February and drew large crowds. It is the second year we have manned a stall selling American style Hot Dogs and Beer. It was a great success with the funds raised doubling that of last year. We actually ran out of beer to sell and some volunteers were not required to come in on the last day.

Thanks to all members involved in manning the stall. In particular, Brothers Carloff and V who not only spent most of their weekend on site but were instrumental in setting up and bumping out. Brother Carloff also undertook all of the training, obtained licenses and permits, supplied the authentic American Hot Dog Cart and managed the finances.

The Lodge would particularly like to acknowledge the active participation of the  Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother Derek Robson AM. Without his offer of nearby secure storage space, and his active support well into each night, the logistics of keeping supplies up to the front line would have been very difficult.
